The Milan Furniture Fair, held every April, is arguably the most intense week on the design calendar. If your world is rocked by chairs, a nice lamp or some unfeasibly expensive made-to-order piece of furniture, this is the place to be. It's the scene of frenzied trend spotting, where a huge amount of business is conducted, concepts are trialled and vast quantities of prosecco are consumed.
Crystal Bulb by Lee Broom (pictured)
For his first Milan solo exhibition, London-based designer Lee Broom created an old-school wood-panelled public house ("We drove the entire thing by truck from the UK to Italy," says Broom) to showcase his furniture and launch the Crystal Bulb. Made in collaboration with Cumbria Crystal, the delicately hand-blown lead crystal bulb can be screwed into any standard ceiling, wall or lamp fitting (you can change the little bulb inside). "It has a really nostalgic feel that I love," Broom says. From £109. leebroom.com

Lego Furniture..
When Christiansen invented the Lego blocks, he wouldn’t have even imagined how popular this thing will become in the future. Kids simply love Lego and it’s no wonder that we keep thinking up ways to use Lego in our everyday lives as adults. And that’s how this creativity has inspired some of the cool furnishings for your home. Here are some of the coolest Lego inspired home furnishings that will add fun and excitement to your home décor.
I love this wall climbing chair. It reminds me of beauty and the beast where the furniture comes alive! Love how a piece of furniture can take you back to your childhood! :)
Making Furniture with Magnetism!
The Gravity Stool owes its unique shape to the cooperation between magnetic fields and the power of gravity.
Departing from the idea that everything is influenced by gravitation, a force that has a strongly shaping effect, Jólan intended to manipulate this natural phenomenon by exploiting its own power: magnetism. The positioning of the magnetic fields in the machine, opposing each other, has largely determined the final shape of the Gravity Stool.
It is the combination of the magnet machine with the plastic material, developed especially for this purpose, that enabled Jólan to start a small but efficient chain of production. The forms and products are characterized by the freakish and organic shapes that are typical of nature itself.
BRC DESIGNS are designed by Benjamin Rollins Caldwell. BRC Designs melds timeless and unconventional materials into unique yet simple furniture designs. Each piece of furniture is handcrafted by a small team of skilled craftsmen under the close artistic direction of Benjamin Rollins Caldwell. In the pictures above you can see some of BRC creations that were designed using odd and unusual materials, making very functional items out of them. This idea with tubes got my attention and I’m pretty sure that the idea can be developed into an interesting piece of furniture!
